We are still waiting for clear government advice on the unlocking of the hospitality industry, but it is evident that weddings through July are unlikely to proceed as originally planned. Government advice updated on the 1st of June gives no clarity on the recommencement of wedding ceremonies, even with small numbers of guests.
"1.20 Can weddings go ahead?
No, there’s no change at this time - you cannot gather in sufficient numbers indoors to enable a wedding ceremony. We understand the frustration couples planning a wedding must be feeling at this time. We are keeping these restrictions under review and will ease them as soon as it is safe to do so. We will continue to work closely with faith leaders and local government over the coming weeks to go through the practicalities of doing so.
Marriages and civil partnerships under the special procedure for those who are seriously ill and not expected to recover, are taking place in some cases where it is safe to do so in line with PHE guidance." At Stubton Hall we are assuming that any eventual restart to weddings will be slow and gradual, probably focusing on the ceremonies alone with a limited number of witnesses.
We are currently consulting with couples who have weddings booked with us through the end of August and offering them appropriate suggestions and making alternative plans if needed. I know that couples scheduled to be married from September onwards are also anxious, but for the moment we are continuing to hope that in the next few months it will become clear if Autumn weddings will be able to go ahead and so we are not yet entertaining provisional postponements for weddings after the end of August.
We are so happy to have a steady stream of requests for new weddings! There are still two remaining prime dates in December 2020 and we've devised an all-in package for 50 guests if you would like to get married in early 2021. There are also a few prime dates for Summer 2021 available in our diary. Please contact us if you are interested in provisionally reserving a date in our diary.
We've heard some horror stories from couples whose venues haven't been as flexible as we are about forced postponements. If you are considering moving your wedding from another venue, please give us a call because we would like to be helpful.
We are still unable to show new customers around in person, but we hope that this restriction could be lifted in the near future. Please contact us if you would like to book a show round as we are planning some provisional dates towards the end of June and into July. In the meantime we can set up video or phone calls to discuss how Stubton Hall could host your wedding. We've also put together a simple video walkthrough of Stubton Hall for those of you who have never seen it https://vimeo.com/407091388.
Whether you are an existing or a new customer, please be in touch if you have any queries. Our emails and phones are staffed, but understand that it may take us longer than usual to reply.
